The number of A* grades achieved by students has almost doubled in the second year of the availability of this top grading to 46. No less than 8 students achieved multiple A* grades and particular congratulations are due Robert Rouse who achieved 4 A*s and Guy Richardson and Harriet Van Den Tooren who achieved 3 A*s each.
Principal, Richard Smith, said, “This is the last set of results I have the privilege of celebrating here at Wyke as I am leaving in September – and I am delighted to be able to leave amidst such success! Between the ages of 16 and 18 young people are fully exploring their own lasting potential. It is wonderful to be able to work with them at this time in their lives and I shall miss it. The staff at Wyke show, year on year, their expertise in bringing the very best out of each and every student. The students at Wyke show what can be done when the right teaching, support and facilities are there for them.
I wish all this year’s students the very best for their future and I know that Wyke Sixth Form College will go on providing the best possible education to the widest range of young people. It has consistently shown what can be done in the city. It is an engine of confidence and achievement for the future.”
Mr John Wilson, Chair of the Wyke Sixth Form College Corporation, added: “Another remarkable set of results and I congratulate all our students for their hard work and determination to succeed. The staff at Wyke have yet again demonstrated their dedication to success and particular thanks must go to our Principal, Dick Smith, who is retiring in September.”
