Biology Department Trip to Barcelona

In April 2009, the Biology department took a mixture of 1st and 2nd year A level students to Barcelona to study ecology.
They looked at sand dune succession, human influence on the dunes and other environments, woodland ecology, biodiversity, collected data and analysed results, all of which is linked to the Biology A level specifications.
They had a great time but worked hard, making the most of their time there. Unfortunately the weather was more English than Spanish for much of the time, although the students still managed to swim in the sea! The group went out for a typical Spanish tapas meal at a wonderful restaurant to conclude the visit.
