17 March 2010

A record 16 out of 20 BTEC IT students submitted UCAS applications this year, and all of them have now received offers, with many students receiving multiple offers.

Among them, Andrew Hunt has received an offer from Durham University and Emma Challis has been offered a scholarship from Hull University. With several weeks still remaining on the course Emma and fellow student Brian Peach, have already achieved an overall grade DDD (equivalent to 3x A-grade A-Levels). A fantastic achievement.

Kevin Penny, Head of Department for ICT and Computing at Wyke, said ‘This is excellent news for the students concerned and reflects all of the hard work put in by staff and students, and shows the continued success and value of the BTEC IT courses at Wyke.’

The BTEC IT Diploma is available as a 3x A-level equivalent course for those students wishing to pursue a career in IT or progress to university to study computing. Wyke A-Level students can select our 1x A-Level equivalent BTEC IT course as one of their options. This course provides the students with work-related, technical computing skills along with a qualification recognised by industry and universities.
