New York 2010
17 March 2010
A lucky group of Media and Film students have just returned from an action packed trip to New York. John Hamlin, Media Teacher and Liaison Manager at Wyke, organised five days of non-stop sight-seeing, ensuring an extremely full itinerary.
Upon arrival on their first evening the students visited Times Square and the Chrysler Building, Grand Central Station. The next day included a trip to The Fashion Institute of Technology, New York State University as well as a guided tour around HOT97.7, the top hip hop radio station in New York. The afternoon concluded with a trip up the Empire State Building to watch the city light up.
Other highlights included a visit to Ground Zero, ferry to the Statue of Liberty and a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, where part of the group managed to negotiate a deal with the driver of a limo who agreed to drop them back at their hostel! The following day there was an NBC Studio Tour, where students got hands on experience in a real studio, and a visit to the Natural History Museum with the last day consisting of last minute shopping on Broadway, 5th Avenue, Lexington Avenue and Macy’s.
