Miami Grace

Grace Shoebridge, a second year Wyke Sixth Form College student, has gained a place to study PR and Advertising at the University of Miami, Florida, USA. Grace, who attended Hull Collegiate school for her GCSEs, is currently studying Media, Psychology and Business Studies at A level at Wyke, and is predicted to achieve an A grade in each of them. After her GCSEs she began a programme of A level study at Hymers College, but having changed direction with her choice of subjects, she decided to study at Wyke.

Belgian Exchange 2011

The first leg of the Belgian exchange took place in November as we hosted eight students and two staff here at Wyke. They arrived exhausted after a disturbed night on the ferry but were allowed little respite as our students had planned plenty of activities for them in the evenings! Impressed by our college buildings, the students particularly enjoyed the canteen area and were treated to a meal on their first day in college.
They also took part in French lessons, where they paired up with our students and produced bi-lingual work on the environment and a critical review of a film. During their visit they also went to York and followed a paintings treasure hunt around Beverley.

Louis Mobbs for England

Louis Mobbs, a Wyke student currently studying A levels in P.E., Accounting and Law, has been selected for the English National College football team. The competition is fierce and Louis has passed regional trials and North of England trials to get in the squad.
His debut will be at West Ham United's stadium against the Australian National Team in the New Year. Congratulations to Louis!

Wyke take Hull & East Ridings Title

Success again for winning Wyke Netball First Team!
Wyke Sixth Form College’s Netball First Team has been crowned the Hull and East Riding Schools under 19 Champions. They will go through to the regional stage of the National Schools Netball Competition as champions, after beating Beverley Longcroft 18-1 and drawing 5-5 with Hymers.
In October the team won the Hull under 19 Schools competition. The regional stage of the competition will take place on 4th February. Netball captain Natalie Barratt said ‘I’m really proud of the girls, as a team we worked so well together and I think we deserved what we achieved due to our hard work.’
