    Wyke Students visit Paris

A group of 25 Business Studies and Accounting students have now returned from an extremely successful visit to Paris and Disneyland Paris.

The group arrived via coach and P&O North Sea Ferries, for a sight-seeing trip around Paris on Monday morning. Students were able to visit lots of famous places including the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.

The group stayed at the Explorers Hotel, just a short shuttle ride to the village and park. During our two days in Disneyland students investigated the marketing, finance and human resources of the parks. There was also time to enjoy the facilities on offer despite the severely cold weather - temperatures as low as a ‘real feel’ -16C!

On our return to the ferry we were able to visit Bruges and the many chocolate shops. We look forward to returning in the near future.

Despite fierce competition, Wyke Dance students invloved in the Hull Youth Dance Group have been selected to take part in Fresh 2012, the prestigious contemporary dance competition that showcases the finest youth dance groups from across the Yorkshire and Humber.

The students will be performing their piece ‘I phone. You Phone. We Phone', choreographed by ex-Wyke students, now artistic directors, John Beney and Gemma Barker that highlights societies obsession with mobile phones.

Hull Youth Dance explored a range of circumstances surrounding mobile phones and where are they sit in societies priorities. They include: “How often do we need to check for messages? How loudly do we need to speak to someone on the phone? Would an audience ignore a performance to use a mobile phone? Would performers ignore an audience while they duet with technology?
