Wyke College Student Association
14 December 2009
The Student Association has once again been hard at work since the summer break.
Enrolment at the beginning of September was a very busy time for members of the Student Executive. Aiming to sell 750 NUS Extra cards this year, the team were highly efficient. In addition, members raised awareness of the Freshers Party and made a good start selling tickets.
The Freshers’ Party was a great success, attracting around 450 students to Asylum, where they enjoyed music, socialising and the chance to play in the hired Casino for prizes.
Out of the success of the Freshers’ Party, students were keen to attend a Halloween Party. The venue again was Asylum, and this time ticket sales hit an all time high of 750 students! Prizes were awarded for the best fancy dress costume (Scooby Doo) and the best dancer (to the tune of Thriller). The event was a great success and plans are underway for a Christmas party.
Students recently voted online to decide which one of five proposed charities the College would support this year. Voting went well with over 280 students logging on and registering their vote. The result is that this year the students decided to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
