From Longcroft School to Wyke College, from Wyke College to Leeds College of Art, from Leeds College of Art to New York – the last four years have been a whirlwind for former Wyke student Charlotte (Charlie) Frank.

Charlie is now working as a copywriter intern at Young & Rubicam, one of the world’s largest adverting agencies, in New York, USA. Excellent grades in A levels Graphics, Textiles, Media Studies and English Language from Wyke secured a place on an Advertising Foundation Degree at the Leeds College of Art. Whilst in her second year, Charlie thought that she would look further afield for a student partner to produce her major project, so she decided to put out an appeal on her social networking sites.

Within a week she had a contact with Liz Sadkowski, who was studying a similar degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York. Liz had just secured an internship at Young & Rubicam but she needed to be accompanied by a copywriter. Charlie was the perfect answer. With visas cleared and tickets purchased, Charlie is looking forward to a summer in the “Big Apple”. She said, “I would never have thought that sending out those emails six months ago would get me here. Having not had an art director on my course I could work with, through the powers of the Internet I set out to find one I could”.

Charlie plans to spend the whole of the summer in New York before returning to Leeds to continue studying in her final year of her degree.
