Who is the course for?
Students with an interest in Science and 'how Science works' and who need a GCSE in Science.
Content outline
This is a 1 year course where you will develop and improve your knowledge and understanding of science and how science applies to your everyday life, such as your mobile phone and iPod. You will also improve your skills of enquiry and data handling through both practical based work and classroom exercises.
You will study the following modules: Biology - 1a Human Biology, 1b Evolution and the environment; Chemistry - 1a Products from rocks, 1b Oils, Earth and Atmosphere; Physics - 1a Energy and Electricity, 1b Radiation and the Universe.
Method of assessment
You will take multiple choice tests on the above modules, each counting for 12.5% of the qualification with the practically based unit accounting for 25%.
