Level 3 : AS/A Level Fine Art (EDEXCEL)

Who is the course for?

Students who have gained a grade C or better in Art or an Art based subject at GCSE. Good basic visual language skills and a keen interest in developing traditional art skills. Good evidence of written ability with a C grade in English or another written communication based GCSE.

Content outline

AS: A unit based structure (1 internal and 1 externally set) that explores and develops the full range of practical skills and understanding. Major areas of study will be drawing, painting, and printing. There will also be ongoing written work to inform students’ own work and develop understanding.

There is a studio fee of £30 per year

A2 – The course is unit based, 1 internal and 1 externally set. The internal unit is comprised of a practical personal response in 2D or 3D, as well as a written study of 1500-3000 words which supports and complements the practical artwork.

Coursework 50%, examination 50%.
