Level 3 : BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Sport (EDEXCEL)
Who is the course for?
This course specialises in coaching, sports development and fitness. It is suitable for students who are aiming to go on to university and study a sports related degree; those interested in Sports Science, Physiotherapy or Sports Medicine; those looking to gain employment within the Leisure and Recreation Industry including Leisure Centre Management, Sports Coach, Fitness Instructor, Sport Retail; or those looking to enter the Uniformed Services. The course entry requirements are 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above including GCSE PE or BTEC Sport (Level 2 Merit) and GCSE English.
Content outline
The course gives the students the skills, knowledge and confidence to work within this sector of the sport industry. Students are also encouraged to take additional sports qualifications such as Community Sport Leader Award and Sport Governing Body courses. Other qualifications include First Aid for Sports Coaches and a variety of opportunities to lead or coach in the community with a range of age groups, through being a part of the leadership academy.

Method of assessment
Coursework modules over two years.
