Student Profiles

The reputation of Wyke is built upon the excellent facilities and broad course choice but most of all it’s based upon the success and happiness of our students. Below is just a small sample of student profiles, from a range of subjects and levels.

    1. Nikki Buttrick

      Nikki Buttrick

      Nikki joined us from Cottingham High School, and is currently studying PE, Dance and Media Studies at A level alongside GCSE Maths. She chose to come to Wyke as she wanted to gain more independence and she says the college has a really friendly atmosphere. After Wyke, what next? ‘I hope to go to Hull University to study Physiotherapy.’

    2. Robert Rouse

      Robert Rouse

      Robert is a former Kelvin Hall pupil who decided to come to Wyke as it is his local college and he had lots of friends coming here. He says: ‘The teachers are very knowledgeable but it’s also so much fun, which makes it all really enjoyable!’. Having gained five A grades at AS level, he is continuing to study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Spanish at A2.

      He says it has been fantastic having so much choice at Wyke as it has enabled him to study a broad range of subjects. He plans to study Pure Maths at University.

    3. Ameer Majidiasl

      Ameer Majidiasl

      Ameer, a former Kelvin Hall pupil, came to Wyke as it is his local college, with easy access. He says ‘The investment in Wyke has made it a very attractive college to study in and I didn’t consider anywhere else as I had it all right here on my doorstep!’ Ameer is studying PE, and Travel and Tourism A levels alongside a BTEC in Business. He is a member of the Wyke College First Football Team and plans to continue his studies at university, either in Sports Rehabilitation or Business Management.

    4. Kathryn Heathcote

      Kathryn Heathcote

      Kathryn came to Wyke from our nearest partner school, Kelvin Hall, and is currently studying Dance, English Language and Literature, and Photography A levels as well as GCSE Maths. She remembers coming to Wyke Start and says ‘It was a great introduction to Wyke, I loved it, particularly as I could focus on dance.’ Since studying here, Kathryn has really enjoyed the wide range of subjects she has studied and in particular her participation in Dance Workshops.

      Kathryn has successfully auditioned and gained a place on the gifted and talented scheme run by Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) and Northern Ballet Theatre (NBT). This opportunity enables students to receive professional training in both Contemporary and Ballet. She aims to complete her A levels at Wyke before progressing onto a degree in Dance at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.

    5. Amy Stewart

      Amy Stewart

      Amy joined us from Beverley Longcroft School and spent last year improving her GCSE grades. Having achieved the required grades, she has been able to reach her goal and progress onto a BTEC in Sport. Amy feels her first year at Wyke helped her grow in confidence and gain the maturity needed for her studies.

      She has immersed herself in college life, being part of the Student Crew, Netball team and a reserve for the Women’s football team! She says ‘You get the whole package at Wyke, new friends, new facilities and a great choice of courses.’
