Wyke Sixth Form College

New Buildings

Jamie Davies

Students applying to come to Wyke from September 2010 will be the first to experience the completely new college facilities.

Previous students have benefitted from the fantastic classroom provision in the new Wilson and Ash Buildings but Easter 2010 will see the completion of the final part of the redevelopment, the Oak Building.

The Oak Building will feature a new Learning Resource Centre which will be more than double the size of the old library. The new building will provide excellent sport facilities with a four badminton court sports hall. The state of the art theatre space will be flexible and be able to accommodate Dance, Drama and Music performances. There will be a new high tech recording studio and also classroom space for Media, Music, PE and Drama. Students will also be able to enjoy the new Refectory and Coffee Bar.

The last part of the development will focus on the landscaped area, which will provide an extensive external social space. This follows consultation with previous students who requested that the new college should have ‘a University Campus feel’. All in all, there couldn’t be a better time to take advantage of everything that Wyke has to offer!
