Wyke College Library
One key to success in your studies is your active use of the Library and its resources. By Easter 2010 the Library will be moving to a new home in the Oak building which will increase the Library space by over 300% and offer an ideal environment for students to study.

There are two Librarians: Keith Mawer and Suzanne Clarkson. They are here to help you find any information or resources you may need.

The Library has a number of collections:
Quick Reference
Located close to the help desk, a selection of up to date dictionaries, statistics, encyclopaedias, atlases etc. – a very useful place to start any research
Websites
Over 7,000 websites are listed in the catalogue, these have been chosen for their relevance to your courses and are updated every month.
Non-fiction
The bulk of the Library stock, over 7,000 items, is arranged around the shelves. Every item is on the Library catalogue and easy to locate, but do ask if you need any help in locating items
Audio-visual
We have a wide range of recent films on DVD and music on CD; subject DVDs and CD-ROMs are also available for short-term loan, as are 1 Gb Flash drives and hand-held recorders. There is a DVD video playback machine available for student use.
Fiction
We have a wide selection of, mainly paperback, novels for your leisure / recreational interests.
Careers
There is a large and well-stocked collection of books and pamphlets on jobs and universities.
Magazines
We take over 60 titles covering both subject and leisure interests. Major articles in the subject magazines are listed on the main Library catalogue.
Borrowing
Students are allowed up to four books and one CD / DVD / CD-ROM. Most books are loaned for three weeks and they can be renewed or reserved.
The Library catalogue is available on all student desktops as a button on the front page of the Intranet.
Photocopying
Black & white copying is cash-only. Scanning is also available in the Library.
