Financial Support
Over 70% of students at Wyke receive Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA), up to £30 per week per directly into the students bank account to help with the cost of books, travel, equipment or anything useful to continue learning. The amount of EMA a student receives depends on the income of their household. The process of applying for EMA should be carried out whilst at school but it is important that students who wish to apply for this benefit need to have their own personal bank account. For more information visit EMA website
Wyke College is free for learners who have been resident in the European Union for the last 3 years and are aged 16,17 or 18 on 31 August in the calendar year when a programme of study commences. Such learners do not have to pay tuition fees if they become 19 during the course of that programme. From September 2007 students aged between 19 and under 25 and commencing their first full level 3 qualification (two GCE A Levels or equivalent) may be eligible for free tuition. Further details are available from the Finance Office. Any additional expenses relating to specific courses will be notified at enrolment. The College will pay all initial exam fees but students are required to pay for any retakes. However, if a student fails to attend the set exam date and has not submitted a medical note, a bill for examination fees will be sent to you.
