Wyke Sixth Form College

Careers

Wyke has a first class careers guidance system which provides the most up to date and comprehensive information. If you need to discover what job opportunities are available, Connexions and College staff are here to offer their full support.

All Advisers have professional qualifications and years of experience in helping students. At Wyke College our Connexions Personal Adviser is John Martin.

What can Connexions do for you?

We offer independent and impartial information, advice and guidance to help you make decisions about your future career plans, whether you're thinking of:

  • staying on to do another course
  • going on to higher education
  • having a gap year
  • getting a job or starting work based learning e.g. Apprenticeships

This could involve:

  • assessing your interests and abilities
  • helping you create and review a personal career plan
  • supporting your UCAS application
  • discussing job interviews and voluntary work
  • helping you to compile a CV

You can also arrange to talk in confidence to a Personal Adviser about anything that may be on your mind that you need to get sorted. So, whether it's just a bit of advice and information, or support to deal with a problem, Connexions Personal Advisers can offer practical help when you need it most.

We have links to organisations that may be able to help with other issues too, such as claiming benefits, housing and health. Personal Advisers are also available at consultation evenings.
