  1. Teacher of Maths

    From September 2015

    Full time, permanent

    Sixth Form Colleges Association Teaching Scale: £21,684-£37,008 per annum

    Wyke is a rapidly growing, highly successful Sixth Form College with an outstanding reputation in the locality. The October 2013 Ofsted inspection reflected extremely positively on the College and value-added scores put our outcomes amongst the top in the country. The college draws students from Kingston-upon-Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, and further afield.

    The college has an ‘Outstanding’ Maths faculty which is heavily subscribed with increasing numbers. Teachers within the department support students with a range of extra-curricular revision workshops which have helped contribute to the department’s strong outcomes. In 2014, 100% of our A2 students passed, 53% of these with grades A* to B, at A2 Further Mathematics 86% achieved grades A* to B. Our success at AS (91% pass rate) helped support this achievement.

    We are looking for an outstanding and enthusiastic teacher of Mathematics, skilled in delivering lessons with creative variety and pace. You should be a well-qualified teacher who is keen to work in post-16 education. You will have high expectations, always seeking to maximise the achievements of students and prepared to go the extra mile to support their progress. The successful candidate may teach GCSE Maths, AS and A2-level Maths and/or Further Maths.

  2. Teacher of Science

    The college has an ‘Outstanding’ science faculty which is heavily subscribed with increasing numbers. Teachers within the department support students with a range of extra-curricular revision workshops which have helped contribute to the department’s outstanding outcomes.

    Wyke is looking to recruit an excellent Teacher of Science to join this friendly and supportive department. Teaching is likely to include A-level Chemistry or Physics as well as some A-Level Applied Science and/or GCSE Science. You should be a well-qualified teacher and have excellent classroom skills which have led to a record of high student achievement. This would suit a newly qualified or experienced teacher skilled in delivering lessons with variety and pace who is looking for experience in post-16 education.

  3. Invigilators

    Casual posts, mainly in May and June of each year

    £6.74 per hour (or £9.81 if acting as a Senior Invigilator)

    We are looking to appoint a number of invigilators to work as part of our exams team to assist in the smooth running of the exams process for our students. Some may be offered the opportunity to undertake training in order to be able to take the lead in a large exam room. The work will be on a casual basis, mainly in May and June of each year although some invigilation and training takes place at other times of the year.

    The successful candidates will have a calm and pleasant manner and good organisational skills. Experience of invigilation and/or working with young people would be an advantage but is not required. Significant levels of availability between 11 May and 20 June 2015 is essential.

    Some training for the role will take place the week beginning 23 March 2015.

    The college takes safeguarding very seriously and a DBS criminal record disclosure will be required for this post.
