  1. Foreign Language Assistants

    Fixed term, October 2014 - May 2015

    12 hours per week for French, 7 hours per week for Spanish, 9 hours per week for German, term time only

    £11.80 per hour

    Wyke is a well subscribed, highly successful Sixth Form College with an outstanding reputation in the locality. The college draws students from Kingston-upon-Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, and further afield.

    We require native speakers of French, Spanish and German to work with small groups of students in order to prepare them for Speaking Tests at AS and A level.

    Candidates must have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, be flexible, able to work on their own initiative and have an up-to-date awareness of social and cultural issues in their own country.

  2. IT and Network Technician

    Full time, Permanent

    Sixth Form Colleges Forum scale point 24: £19,020 per annum

    Wyke is a rapidly growing, highly successful Sixth Form College with an outstanding reputation in the locality. The October 2013 Ofsted inspection reflected extremely positively on the College and our outcomes are amongst the top in the country. The college draws primarily 16-19 year old students from Kingston-upon-Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, and further afield.

    We are seeking an experienced IT and Network Technician to work within our busy support team. The role involves supporting staff and students with IT queries and requests as well as working to maintain and improve the college servers and networks.

    The successful candidate will be a strong problem solver who is always keen to learn. They will have substantial experience of maintaining critical IT systems and providing excellent IT support to a large group of people. It will also be advantageous for the candidate to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of server virtualisation, current Microsoft server and workstation operating systems, Active Directory, software deployment, PC imaging, wireless, network printing, internet filtering and general networking technologies. Experience of working with Apple desktops and devices such as iPads would also be advantageous.

    The ideal applicant will have a methodical approach to fault diagnosis and problem solving and a positive approach to customer service. The ability to work independently as well as working as part of the IT team is crucial in this role and it will be important to balance a range of requests from different people.

  3. Catering Assistants

    12 hours per week, term time only

    We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable part-time Catering Assistants to join our busy catering team. This friendly team provides a high quality catering service to our students and staff. The role involves serving breakfast, lunch and snacks as well as occasional evening work for events. A basic food hygiene certificate and experience operating tills and handling cash are desirable.

  4. Invigilators

    Casual posts, mainly in May and June of each year

    £9.81 per hour (or £6.74 when not acting as a senior)

    We are looking to appoint two senior invigilators to work as part of our exams team to assist in the smooth running of the exams process for our students. The work will be on a casual basis, mainly in May and June of each year although some invigilation and training takes place at other times of the year.

    The successful candidates will have a calm and pleasant manner and good organisational skills. They must be willing to undertake training in order to be able to take the lead in a large exam room. Experience of invigilation and/or working with young people would be an advantage.

  5. Cleaner

    10 hours per week, 4-6pm, full year

    Sixth Form Colleges Support Staff Salary Scale point 8: £12,486 pro rata (actual salary approximately £3,374 per annum)

    Wyke is a rapidly growing, highly successful Sixth Form College with an outstanding reputation in the locality. We serve largely 16-19 year old students from Hull, the East Riding and North Lincolnshire.

    We require a Cleaner to work alongside an enthusiastic team of 13 other Cleaners. You will normally clean a set area of the College although some flexibility will be required, particularly to cover any colleague absence. We currently have 4 modern buildings housing around 1800 students and 180 staff.

    Duties within the department cover the full range of cleaning activities (see the job description below for further information). The successful candidates will work well within a team and also on their own initiative. They will have high standards and a positive attitude to their work.
