The Sixth Form College Association’s national supercomputer has analysed every A Level exam result from across England and has confirmed Wyke’s status as a centre of academic excellence. Among all subjects reviewed, two courses stood out above the rest. A Level Physics has been officially named the number one Physics course at sixth form colleges nationwide, and A Level Media Studies has once again secured its position as the top course for student progress in the North East of England.
Wyke’s A Level Physics results demonstrate the exceptional standard of teaching and learning within the department. In the 2024 to 2025 academic year, seventy percent of the sixty five students achieved a whole grade higher than expected. This remarkable outcome reflects the commitment of focused learners, the expertise of the teaching team, the strength of the support available, and the inspiring environment in which students study. A Level Media Studies has also achieved outstanding recognition. Students at Wyke make more progress in Media Studies than at any other sixth form college in the North East of England. In the 2024 to 2025 results, half of the forty two students achieved a whole grade higher than predicted, placing the subject among the highest performing at the college.
