Review of the Year 2024-25

<< Back to all news

The 2024–25 academic year at Wyke Sixth Form College was marked by exceptional achievement, cultural enrichment, and a strong sense of community. From the outset, students embraced a wide range of opportunities that extended learning far beyond the classroom. Educational visits included science exhibitions in Amsterdam, a tour of the White House in Washington DC, community development work in South Africa, and cultural immersion in Thailand. Just a small sample of over 200 trips and visit at Wyke.

The performing arts enrichment flourished with the college production of The Addams Family, which played to sold-out audiences. More than ninety students contributed to the cast and crew, delivering a performance that rivalled professional standards and showcased the depth of creative talent at Wyke.

In sport, 2025 was a year of distinction. The Mixed T1 Rugby team secured the title of national champions, while the dancer competition squad achieved notable success at That’s Showbiz. The Sports Presentation Evening celebrated these accomplishments, and Wyke’s reputation was further enhanced by recognition from the Association of Colleges as the leading sports enrichment college in the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, ranking twelfth nationally across England and Wales.

Campus life was vibrant and inclusive. Events such as Culture Day and International Women’s Day brought students together in celebration, with performances including a rendition of Dancing Queen. Fundraising efforts throughout the year raised over £24,000 for charitable causes, underscoring the spirit of the Wyke community.

Academic and creative achievements were equally impressive. Tazmin Farr reached the final of the Poetry by Heart competition, performing at the Globe Theatre in London. The Science department collaborated with the University of Cambridge on pioneering research, while Foundation Art &Design students curated a compelling end-of-year exhibition. The T-level Health programme was formally recognised as a centre of excellence, affirming the college’s leadership in vocational education.

Results Day 2025 brought further cause for celebration, with outstanding grades and a wide range of successful university and career destinations. These outcomes reflected the dedication of students and staff alike, and reinforced Wyke’s reputation for academic excellence.

Thinking about your next steps? We encourage prospective students to attend one of Wyke’s open events, submit their application within the priority window, and look to achieve their highest possible grades. At Wyke Sixth Form College, own success story starts here.
