TEACHER NOMINATED FOR NATIONAL AWARD

We are delighted to share that Holly Jackson, Psychology Teacher at Wyke Sixth Form College, has been shortlisted for the Helen Kitching Award for “Psychology Teacher of the Year.” This national award celebrates teachers who demonstrate excellence in enhancing the student experience, evidence-informed teaching practice, and impactful sharing of best practice.

Holly’s nomination highlights her exceptional contribution to student success, including the creation of the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Educational Programme (CBT-EP)—an innovative eight-week pastoral programme designed to help students develop resilience and achieve their academic potential.

“Wyke draws a large proportion of its students from areas of significant socio-economic deprivation,” Holly explained. “Many are first-generation university applicants. The CBT-EP was designed to remove barriers and support students in pursuing their ambitions, even in challenging circumstances. My goal is to expand this programme to include workshops, research, and outreach to other schools and colleges.”

Head of Psychology and Sociology, Dawn Waltham, who nominated Holly, said:
“Holly dedicates her life to teaching psychology. She has created an outstanding extra-curricular offer, including talks from clinical psychologists, educational specialists, and lived experience speakers. Her passion and commitment go far beyond the classroom.”

The winner will be announced in early 2026 by an independent judging panel. The prize includes a cash award, free memberships to DART-P and The ATP, and support towards registration for the 2026 ATP Conference.

Congratulations, Holly! Your dedication and innovation are an inspiration to both students and colleagues.
